Night Chapter

What a great crowd we had for our first time in the big room. Thanks to Cena for a fun and interesting program on the flip placemats. I know I got lots of great ideas! This month Ingrid Whitcher will present a program on Fractured Quilts. This is a fascinating technique that I’m sure will intrigue you. I hope most of you picked up the directions for our December program – Quilt Bingo. There will be more available at the meeting. If you can’t come this month, please email me for complete directions. It should be a fun night for all.

Remember, the meeting is early – November 14th. Hope to see you there, come and bring a friend.

What a great time we had at our last meeting. As most of you know, we were “bumped” by the Mayor at the last minute and had to meet in the small room. Even though it got a little warm in there, we had a great turnout and managed just fine. A big thanks to Kim Brackett for her wonderful slide presentation on Spiderweb blocks. I felt much more encouraged to go home and try one out after seeing how simple it was. I hope to see some pop up in Show and Share in the months to come. This month we will meet in the big room around the corner. Don’t forget it’s another early Monday – we meet on the 24th which is the 4th Monday.

This month our program is brought by Cena Harmon. She is presenting a program called “Magic Placemats”. She is putting on her Crafting Hat and will show us how to make 4 placemats at once, just in time for Christmas. Or maybe for that person you keep promising to make a quilt for…..They would also be a great contribution to the Boutique.

Thanks for all your continuing encouragement and support. Remember to sign up to volunteer for the GGCAF in November. Also, consider saying “YES” if you are contacted by the nominating committee. You’ll never know if you can do it until you say yes. And if you’re brave enough, just call me and let me know you’d like to have a job in the Guild. We can’t do it without all of us working together. I will see you on the 24th, come and bring a friend.

We had a good crowd last month for the program Angie brought us on dyeing fabric. A big thank you to Pam for being her demonstrator. Angie is so generous with her time and talents. I highly recommend taking a dye class from her if you ever get the chance.

Our program this month is presented by Kim Brackett. Kim is a very talented quilter and among her talents she has authored 2 quilt books published by Martingale. Kim will be demonstrating a new technique for making the Spider Web block. This is the continuation of the program last year (we had technical difficulties). This is a block that some of you may not know much about, but this technique is one you will want to learn. She has re-vamped and expanded it. Kim is a wonderful teacher – you won’t want to miss this!

I want to encourage you again to volunteer. We have many opportunities to get involved in the next few months leading up to our 2012 Quilt Show. Volunteering for a committee is the BEST way to get to meet people and to feel a part of the Guild.

I look forward to seeing you in our new meeting place. Come and bring a friend.
