September 2011 News Update

Published on 09/06/11

SEPTEMBER 22, 2011 Day chapter meeting presents LINDA O’SULLIVAN from Tallahassee. Mother to five boys, Linda started quilting in 1982 when she took a sampler class. Eight years ago she retired as a girls’ high school soccer team coach and began her teaching life at local quilt stores. She has won ribbons at local quilt shows and several at the Quilts UK show in Malvern England, including Best of Show in 2008. Linda has also had quilts in the Paducah show. Being a native of Wales, Linda and her husband spend part of the year in the UK. I first saw Linda’s work at the annual Capital City Quilt show in the Museum of Florida in Tallahassee and was very impressed with her quilt talent. Please don’t be late to the guild meeting in our new location – Bayview Senior Center.

At the end of each year, the membership makes a “thank you” block for the outgoing president and these are presented to her at the December Christmas party. Our president, Kathy Bullard has chosen a 6” finished Friendship Star. This pattern can be found at www.quilt.com/blockofthemonth/1997/friendshipstar or patterns will be provided at the September meeting. She requests a red for the focus fabric and a cream for the background. Please sign your name somewhere in the background.

2011 Christmas Project – Leaders Barbara Emmons and Herbie Morin will collect $10 gift cards from Target and Wal-Mart to donate to our annual Christmas charity – the Children’s Home Society of Pensacola. If you would like to donate a pillowcase, the pattern is online or copies of patterns will be in the PQG Library. The cards and pillowcases will be delivered to the Children’s Home the end of November, so please donate at the September, October or November guild meetings. I challenge individuals, groups and bees to support this worthy cause.

Make note of the OCTOBER, NOVEMBER and DECEMBER Day Guild meeting dates:

Get with your tablemates and plan to win.
