Planning meeting for PQG 2027 Quilt Show will be held at Tryon Library, 1200 Langley Ave., Pensacola from 5:00 pm to 6:45 pm.

The meetings will be held in Meeting Room A. Please note that that meetings will be held on Tuesdays (except months with holidays). We will have the room open and available at 4:30. Sharon will be there early if anyone has questions or suggestions for the quilt show. This is also a time that committees can meet if they desire to do so before the meeting.

SOS (Share Our Skills): Make a Tote Bag from Old Jeans (Thursday, May 21, 2026)

Judy Walker made this bag from raggedy old jeans that her husband was finally ready to part with. It’s such an easy tote bag—most of the cutting and joining is already done. And clever finishing offers all the features you would want in a bag: handles, pockets, loops to attach your keys—easy-peasy! Bring any old pair of jeans—the bigger, the better—in no time at all, you’ll have a new tote bag.

If you don’t have jeans, don’t worry. With a few adaptations and a little more cutting, you can make a similar bag from just about anything that is heavy-duty fabric (pre-quilted prints, canvas, corduroy, denim, upholstery fabrics) — in about the same amount of time!

Based on the size you want and how much fabric you have, we will aim to make your bag as large or small as you choose — by following the simple free instructions found at this link:

We won’t use patterns but we will use math!

For 45in fabric, bring 1.5yd–2yd.

For 54in fabric, bring 1yd–1.5yd fabric.

So, bring an old pair of jeans and/or fabric of your choice and go home with a brand new bag!

PQG provides irons and ironing boards, cutting mats, rulers, and a couple of cutters.

Almost in Church - Stained Glass Workshop by Mary Marcotte (Wednesday, June 24, 2026)

This beautiful table topper or wall hanging is a fun way to learn how to create lovely stained glass in fabric. The gorgeous window scene will be uniquely your own because you choose which colors to use, cut the fabrics into gentle shapes, and arrange them to suit your aesthetic. You'll learn techniques on color theory, freehand rotary cutting, stippling, and using bias tape.

Supply List:

Your favorite sewing machine with a zigzag stitch (remember the pedal, wires, extension cord, etc.)
Backing fabric—fat quarter (18” X 22”) or larger
Batting the size of your backing fabric
A variety of fabrics—your choice of solids, small prints, tone-on-tone, or batiks; 10” squares work well, as will large scraps, and fat quarters. Tip: fabrics that have no right and wrong sides, such as solids and batiks, can be less frustrating when learning.
Thread—medium gray, silver, or black
Two packs of black, single-fold bias tape (can be purchased at Walmart, Amazon, and most fabric stores). Or you can make your own bias tape using a solid black quilting cotton;

REFUND POLICY: Should a pre-registered member become unable to attend a workshop, the member has the responsibility to notify the workshop chairperson immediately. The workshop chairperson shall make every effort to find a substitute from the wait list of other members. If no other member (or no wait list) is available, the member has the option of finding a replacement. The pre-registered fee will be refunded only if a paid replacement is substituted.
